Recreational Vehicle Insurance
Recreational Vehicle Insurance Information
A general definition of recreational vehicles is, "motorized vehicles not for road use." Recreational vehicles include ATVs, snowmobiles, riding lawn mowers, trailers campers, and at times, RVs. Many homeowners policies provide some coverage for these items, but normally only for use on your own property. Since most recreational vehicles are used on and off premises it is wise to purchase coverage specifically for your recreational vehicle. Liability coverage is a must since many severe accidents occur on recreational vehicles. If your vehicle has "value," you may want to insure the vehicle itself in case it is damaged or destroyed in an accident.
Many consumers try to insure their RVs on their automobile policies. While this is possible, it is not recommended. Many exposures, such as loss to the contents in the RV, are not covered under an automobile policy. It is best to purchase an actual policy designed for RVs for the most complete coverage.
